Guilherme Maggessi | Rafał Morusiewicz
We (Maggessi/Morusiewicz) are a duo of artists, working together since 2020. Our collaborative artistic projects frequently center around various types of archives. Situating our practice within queer, critical-archive, and anti-/de-colonial discourses, we employ (peri)academic theory to explore spaces of in-betweenness, ambiguity, and pleasure through collaging films, sounds, and images. Since 2022, we have co-led an artistic-research project, “W/ri/gh/ting Archives through Artistic Research” (FWF, PEEK), which involves collaborations with artists and cultural institutions engaged in different forms of archive-based work (artistic, activist, educational). Exhibition “The Mirror, the Corridor,” belongs to our ongoing mixed-media project “Wormholes” has been presented as site-specific exhibitions (solo, group), and (stage) performances in institutional and independent settings, such as Kunstraum Lakeside (Klagenfurt, AT), Belvedere 21 and wuk performing arts (Vienna, AT), SPEDITION (Bremen, DE) and Kunsthal Extra City/MORPHO (Antwerp, BE). In our artistic practice, we work with found-footage audiovisual material, digital/analogue printing techniques, and textile installations.
